IUPUI 50th Anniversary

2019 marked 50 years of IUPUI and celebrations were in order all across campus. The 50th Anniversary celebration of IUPUI involved both new and old traditions; Fall Kickoff took place on campus with a parade and live music and the annual Regatta on the canal took place as well.

The IUPUI Fall Kickoff Celebration began with the Jaguar Spirit Fest that featured all kinds of celebrations and the appearence of mascots Jinx, Jazzy, and Jawz. Festivities continued with the IUPUI Talent Showcase for students to participate in as well as food trucks around North Hall. The night was rounded out with a concert featuring Indy natives Dream Chief as the opener and Atlas Genius closing it out at Lockfield Gardens.

The IUPUI Regatta has been held on the canal in downtown Indianapolis since 2009. During Regatta Week, 5K races, cookouts, and other events take place leading up to the half-mile canoe race down the canal where the winning team receives a trophy and money is also raised for the Stefan S. Davis IUPUI Regatta scholarship. On the day of the race, events are held all along the canal and spectators gather to watch, eat, and celebrate the Regatta.
